I am a great fan of shoping on the internet (unfortunately!) and readily get caught up in the idea of having something delivered to myself or friends for a special occaision.
I have recently discovered a new gift site [www.bigsplendour.co.nz] which is probably more at the top end of the market but has some gorgeous, really different things.
Worth a look for that hard person to buy for!

I have a son in Cambridge UK and typed "Cambridge' into Google and came up with a list of local shops etc
Emailed a wine celler and choose some NZ wine and had it delieved (at no cost) to him
Paid by credit card and had no problems.
Have also done this for flower delivery, avoiding the Interflora fees which are a good part of the cost.
Daughter in Law has done this for her parents in Perth Aust. Just used Google to find the site

I have family in the UK and have tried Amazon a couple of times. The first ones went quite smoothly. The last one they took about six months to tell me the books I had ordered were unavailable. Which is not really ok if you are sending some one a gift! So now I am wary of this option. But after saying this I would love to find out any other options for sending gifts in the UK. I looked up mag subscriptions, but they work out quite expensive.

For perfume i use Strawberrynet which I think is based in Hongkong.
They have free posting - packaged very well in a solid cardboard box with foam chips etc, a gift card if neccessary, comes with a purple ribbon on the outside and is sent registered courier post. They give you a tracking number so you can see where it at in the delivery process.
The prices are better then duty free, and I can ensure that I get what I want - which is often not the way with duty free - or do I wear unusual perfumes???
Can get all sorts of other female and male products
too
Have never had any problems with these guys at all
Cheers
Wendy

I have a site that you can send NZ wine in the UK only problem is you need to order 12 bottles. I have not used it though, also has gift/hamper baskets as well. It costs around $37 dollars just to send wine from NZ from one of the wineries I have a brochure from.
Another site I am looking at also is ukonlineshopping.org.uk.

I was really tired of roaming shopping centres, and coming up with the same gift everytime - a necklace or lipstick, for my friends. This year I decided to shop from Amazon instead, and I've even prepared a gift guide that might help you out if you're planning to buy a gift for children or teenagers. It's at

I recently found this NZ gift buying site, only suitable for Kiwi recipients. It sends vouchers for experiences, and it looks pretty good, I thought.

Hi Bev, can you remember which wine cellar you emailed as my daughter and son in law moved from London to Cambridge in September and would like to give them some wine again for xmas, can you just order single bottles as last year when looking most of the sites I looked at required a case.

Some of reading this thread may think you are "excluded" from buying
online as you do not have a credit card. I don't have one and don't want one.
However, I have approached a handful of NZ sites asking them to provide me with their bank a/c details in order to make an internet transfer.
Most have been delighted to provide this option (even though they don't offer it on site). Foodlovers has been great like this, IQ toys, Ginny's herbs, and just last week I ordered the best apron I have EVER had from wallace cotton.
Just thought I'd let others know that it can be done without a credit card !! (but only in NZ of course)

Further to Angela's message posted in November, I have just received at my door a special gift I purchased on-line from www.bigsplendour.co.nz for my daughter for Christmas. I am absolutely thrilled with their service and the gift is beautifully wrapped all ready for placing under the tree. They were great girls to deal with so I really recommend this website - thanks Angela and thanks Foodlovers as I would never have heard about them otherwise!
