Hi Tpandav - I'm in Dunedin. I've never had trouble finding it before - the brand I have used is Mizkan.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Rice Wine - 5 years ago
Hi! I've struggled to find cooking rice wine recently - scoured supermarkets and Asian Grocers endlessly. One product I have come across is cooking sake and I'm wondering if this is the same or close enough. I need it for the 4½ cup chicken recipe on this website. Please help - this is one of my favourite recipes to make!by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Allergies - 7 years ago
Thanks all for your responses. Managed quite well in the end with nachos, roast chicken and baked veg, a GF pie and found some seriously good soy yoghurt which, apart from a slight soy flavour, imitated "proper" yoghurt.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Allergies - 7 years ago
Hi All Such a long time since I've been on here! I have a friend coming to visit who cannot have gluten, dairy, nuts or citrus and I'm a bit stumped for meals, baking and snacks. Does anybody have any tried and true recipes/ideas they'd be happy to pass on please?by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Eating out South Island - 11 years ago
If a simple takeaway meal is required then I offer a hearty recommendation for Lockies Takeaways in Hampden (just south of Oamaru). We were there last week and had the BEST blue cod and chips ever!! The fish was so fresh and cooked to perfection. I have never heard a bad word about this place. There are a few tables and chairs for you to dine alfresco or you could just take your food down toby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Phone Call re malicious computer files - 11 years ago
We too are thoroughly tired of these computer related calls! My last response was to repeatedly say every time he spoke - "how do you know I have a computer?" After about 7 times he hung up! Fist pump and happy dance ensued!by Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Baking paper vs cooking paper - 12 years ago
Hi - just wondering... is there any difference between the two and can you use baking paper when cooking and vice versa? Does one work better than the other for specific tasks? Happy Friday!by Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

I always boil mine first to get rid of as much fat as possible then I dry bake them in the oven - surprising how much fat still lingers!by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: rocky road help please - 13 years ago
I use the Home Brand (Countdown) raspberry jubes in my rocky road and they are lovely! I always use the mini marshmallows too - saves chopping!by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Swap: Novels about food - 13 years ago
I'd recommend anything by Frances Mayes. Under the Tuscan Sun was loosely based on some of her life experiences and it's one of my all time favourite movies. The book had me almost drooling at her food descriptions.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk

What's the difference? - 13 years ago
Please pardon my ignorance - but what is the difference - if there is any - between cooking paper and baking paper? Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: feedback please - 14 years ago
Loving it - no font colour issues here. Have been tootling around the site and finding all sorts of interesting things. Well done Helen and design team! I realise there is some fine tuning to do and would prefer an English spell checker rather than American -but the knickers ain't knotted if it cain't be done!by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Help Decorated Cakes How much? - 14 years ago
Hi Lisa A local cake shop charges $80 to make a Barbie doll cake - the standing up kind... Not too simple and certainly not as complicated as your beautiful creations. Cheers Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Griffin's Gingernuts - 14 years ago
Hi Kerry Thanx for your very informative reply! Very little oil is used for a task but the tasks include glass cleaning - especially in the bathroom where 'glass cancer' has occurred (glass looks like it has been etched, happens when caustic products have been employed and have eaten into the glass). It is also supposed to be a good cleaner for bone, ivory, bakelite and plastics (Shannonby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Griffin's Gingernuts - 14 years ago
Kerry, you mentioned sweet almond oil in an earlier post - is that the same as almond oil or is there a difference? My reason for asking is I want to get some for my cleaning kit (I'm an avid Shannon Lush devotee).by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: What's your call for this year? - 14 years ago
I'm gonna be different (hopefully not deemed to be obstreperous). It's twenty-ten for me. My reasoning is that last century we didn't say one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine etc etc etc so why would we start breaking it down now? I have to admit to looking forward to getting out of the last decade just so we could start shortening the date...hmmm wonder what that says about me. Whatevby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Emirates vs Korean Airlines - 14 years ago
Mother in law has just come back from a European trip raving about Emirates. Only downside is unless you have more than 8 hours to wait, you cannot leave the airport at Dubai.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Keeping Veges & Herbs Tips - 14 years ago
From my experience the best way to keep celery and broccoli is wrapped in tin foil. I haven't tried it with other vegies etc. I'm always astonished at how well it has kept even after a couple of weeks. I've had varied success with tupperware but would certainly vouch for the tin foil.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Whitestone Cheese cafe - 14 years ago
We love Whitestone - we were just there on Saturday! Lisa - you should try their smoked cheese! If's experimental at this stage, the cheesemaker isn't quite happy with it yet (thinks its too strong) but my hubby absolutely loves it with a glass of port. You'll have to ask for it coz I don't think its part of the tasting tray. The Highland Blue is also very good. I do hope the weather isby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: foodlovers commercial mail outs - 14 years ago
My two cents worth.... I was unhappy to receive the 'spam' before logging in here and getting the background on it. I am happy knowing that it is controlled by you Helen and will just push the little old delete button for those I am not interested in.
