Re: Easy Bread Recipe. - 4 years ago
I would recommend Annabel Langbein's Busy Peoples bread from her book, The free range cook. It requires no kneading, no waiting to rise, it does it in the oven for you and makes two loaves and it is delicious. Uses both wholemeal and white flour, sesame seeds and dry yeast granules.by marion - Foodlovers Food Talk
Cake Decorating - 4 years ago
I am looking for a class to learn icing techniques and have not been able to find anything that suits as I do not want a one off lesson, but rather one that progresses. I would appreciate any information that any of you may have regarding this. I am on the North Shore of Auckland, but not adverse to driving into Auckland city. I have googled but came up with Zilch - lots of decorating cupcakes eby marion - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Dukoral - 8 years ago
Hi Helen Last year when we travelled to different parts of Brazil my doctor recommended Dukoral to be on the safe side, as it is meant to be good for your gut. So on this recommendation we had the injection. The three of us never experienced any stomach issues and remained healthy for the 3 weeks that we were away. It is pricey but it did work.by marion - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Bench Top Ovens. - 8 years ago
My daughter in law has one and loves it. She has the Breville Smart Oven Pro BOV845BSS, Stainless Steel. It is on special at Farmers for $350 instead of $550. It bakes, grills, fan bakes, slow cooks and has many other features it also is one of the few models that has an interior light. So suggest you check this model out. Her baking is always fabulous. Hope this helps.by marion - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: cafes for lunch between Akld airport & city - 8 years ago
There is a very nice cafe called "Frolic" which is situated opposite the entrance to the stardome observatory, at the entrance to Cornwall park on 653 Manukau Rd, Royal Oak, You could then hop on the motorway at Greenlane and carry on northwards. Hope this helps.by marion - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Olive Oil - 8 years ago
I need some advice please as to which Olive oil to buy. I have an extra virgin oil but really do not like the taste. It seems to overpower my dressings etc. Is there a mild and pleasant tasting one that you would recommend. Thanks.by marion - Foodlovers Food Talk

Plum Jam - 8 years ago
Does anyone have a plum jam recipe that they would like to share. I have just picked a bucket of plums off our tree, as the birds usually beat me to it. The plums are not quite ripe but not rock hard. Do you have to take the skins off and the stones out - sounds like a laborious task? Dont really need this task this time of the year but do not like to waste them.by marion - Foodlovers Food Talk

Christmas Mince tarts - 8 years ago
I am wanting to make about 8 dozen mini christmas mince tarts. Does anyone have a sweet pastry recipe for making large quantities please. I did have one but have mislaid it. I am sure that it was 500gms butter, 6 cups flour, 1 tspn bak. powder,1 egg and cold water. Do not think that it had any sugar. Help please!! 1by marion - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Ernest Adams Fruit Mince - 8 years ago
Vanessa, yes I have looked online. I even rang Goodman Fielder, who are the suppliers and asked them where I could obtain it. Was told they supply to the supermarket brands I mentioned, but for some reason locally they have chosen not to purchase any. Have all their other products. So that is why I thought I may have to try further afield. Thanks anyway.by marion - Foodlovers Food Talk

Duvet Covers - 8 years ago
Have just bought a new bed and moved up from a queen to a king size - consequently new bed linen is required. I have seen a jacquard duvet cover that is just the right colour for our bedroom and quite elegant. My question is would it be practical and would it snag. I don't want to fuss about a bed cover. Has anyone got one of these and can help me out here. Thanks.by marion - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Grandma again - 8 years ago
My son and daughter in law have just announced that I am to be a Grandma next March. This is to be their first child at 34 and 40 they are very excited. My question is, I know that there will be many grandmas using this forum and all things are different now in the baby world. Does anyone have a midwife that has been terrific for their daughters and daughter in laws that you can recommend. Thby marion - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Do you put everything in the dishwasher? - 8 years ago
I put in as much as will fit - except for my good cooking knives, some of my grandmothers bone handled knives and my good china with silver rims and also my royal dalton afternoon tea sets. I have inherited some from my grandmother, mother, as well as my own. When I look at them I often wish "afternoon and morning teas' were back in vogue with the pretty tablecloth and all the trimmings. Iby marion - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
