Re: Gourmet Vinegars - 16 years ago
Hi again Irene One of our local lovely cafes just has a drizzle of balsamic over a salad which accompanies the most amazing potato cake. It's just enough to flavour and not near enough to coat - kinda perfect really. Thanks J1 and Linda for your suggestions - they both sound fab - I'm sitting here salivating!! Can you point me in the direction of where I would find the Mazetti please Jennby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Ideas for xmas dinner kiwi orphans in uk - 16 years ago
Hi Raewyn How about Ambrosia for dessert? Large container fruit yoghurt 300ml cream, lightly whipped sliced apple and/or grapes 1 pkt Mallowpuffs or similar, smashed Combine all ingredients and chill for a couple of hours before serving. Good the next day too. I hope your Christmas is warmed by love, laughter and happy memories remembered and made. Cheers Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Gourmet Vinegars - 16 years ago
Hi All My FIL has discovered, after reading a book, a new-found respect for vinegars. I'd like to buy him a couple for Christmas. He's a keen gardener so plenty of salads will be on the menu this summer and it goes without saying there'll be veges for Africa... I haven't yet found a balsamic vinegar that is perfect to use as a dressing just on its own for salad so I'd love some help thereby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: School family fun night suggestions - 16 years ago
Hair Colour Stall Spray on wild colours for great fun. A good alternative to face painting for older kids. Second hand books and magazines - good excuse to de-clutter before Christmas Asteroid Blaster An easy sideshow for the kids to make. All you need is some very large water pistols and some empty soft drink or milk bottles - 3 litre ones are good. The object of the game is to havby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Some tips to disguise veges??? - 16 years ago
Hi Lisa My sister in law had a similar problem with her four girls and one thing she tried - with a modicum of success - was to get the girls growing their own veges. It makes an interesting project, it's not too expensive and it's educational too! If you don't have room in the garden, pots are good. A variation on that idea may be to get your wee girl to help cook or prepare them herselfby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: gelatine replacement - 16 years ago
Hi Lp Have you tried your local health food store? I also wondered if pectin (used for setting jams) would work in the same fashion - as far as I know it is a plant extract. I'm sure there are more scientific minds out there than mine who will supply you with answers. Can I order some nice weather for Christchurch next weekend please - I'm coming for a visit... Re: My incontinent cat - 16 years ago
Kerry - thanks for some fabulous reading on an otherwise quiet Sunday - hope you and your soggy moggy get through this purr-terbing phase with your relationship intact! Perhaps a map and compass for the good cap'n?? Still chuckling Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: LCD TV - 16 years ago
We too have a Panasonic plasma and no complaints. Apparently for LCD TV's you have to consider the amount of light in a room - often they have to be darkened for best viewing. Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Your opinion please - 16 years ago
Hi Lisa - love your work! Here's my two cents worth... I think the option for customers to "customise" their gifts is great and it can be done so simply by adding a card as already stated. Offering an assortment is very good too - it means you're getting better mileage out of your product. Cats and Lilies - 16 years ago
I read recently that several varieties of lilies can be very harmful - fatal if ingested - to cats, so tonight I did a wee bit of surfing on the subject and found the following link: Have any of you "real people" heard of this or had experience(s) you could share? I'd love to be able to dismiss it as an old wives tale but..... Certainly makes me think twice about filling theby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: shannon Lush's hint book - 16 years ago
Shannon suggests finding a restorer (guess that's a person and not a product!) to help with this problem - must be one for the experts. Cheers and good luck Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: chick flicks - 16 years ago
Ditto to the above - shopaholic books are great. I also enjoy anything by Olivia Goldsmith or Jane Green - similar style - not too taxing on the grey matter and good for a chuckle. On the non-fiction side I really enjoyed Frances Mayes' Under the Tuscan Sun - the movie was loosely based on the book. She's a food journo and has written several others - the titles of which elude me at this latby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Denheath We need YOUR opinion! - 16 years ago
No 1 Denheath Delights (maybe not everyone will know what delectables are) No 2 D-Squares - I know it's so similar to E Squares but keeps it in the family..... (I can visualise a cool stylised "D" which would denote the Denheath range) D-Vine (or Divine) Inspiration Have to go - salivating at the thought of those yummy desserts!! Re: feedback on F & P Dishdrawers, please - 16 years ago
We've had our double dish drawer for five years now and only one minor problem. I do have to say that the bottom drawer definitely doesn't get as much use as the top one tho..... It's interesting to note that in the near future (not sure exactly when), the patent for this machine runs out. Then I strongly suspect other companies will be "in like robbers' dogs" to get their versionby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Chocolat for me too please! and also The Castle - it's especially great fun to find other fans and quote lines from it Dawn Anna - very inspiring and highly recommended - a four-tissue-movie Wild Hogs Captain Corelli's Mandolin Under the Tuscan Sun - started me reading Frances Mayes' books - she is a wonderful writer - I could just taste the food she was talking about. Just wondering if CLR (you can get it at the supermarket - works on calcium, lime and rust - hence CLR) would work - think you have to put it in the cistern for a while then flush it through... may be worth a try.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Joke of the Day - 16 years ago
Here's one that had me chuckling.... A cocky MAF representative stopped at a farm and talked with the old farmer; "I need to inspect your farm." The old farmer said, "You better not go in that field." The MAF representative said in a "wise" tone, "I have the authority of the NZ Government with me. See this card, I am allowed to go wherever I wish on agby Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: enhancing vegetables - 16 years ago
I love grated parmesan over steamed veges - saves making the sauce but still gives that extra wee tang! I've also got a thing for carrots and orange juice - lovely in a glaze with butter and nutmeg or sometimes I use cinnamon. Cheers Nozzieby Nozzie - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: What sort of things do you do with FETA cheese? - 16 years ago

Re: christmas goodies - 17 years ago
Speaking of perishables, I usually order berries ahead of time and pick them up on the last possible day before Christmas - that way I know they are fresh and I won't miss out. Our lovely local greengrocer makes them a little cheaper too for those who order ahead.by Nozzie - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
