Re: Where to buy Date Syrup online - 9 years ago
I've just checked the container, it is date juice and comes from a middle east shop in Auckland. I purchased it last year but haven't opened it and can't remember what I intended to make with it. The label isn't in English so I don't know how sweet it is. An ideas would be very helpful. The product is Persian.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Freezer disaster - 9 years ago
It had completely thawed but was still in the freezer and the door was only open a little. It is in a downstairs room which is cooler so it wouldn't have got warm at all. I just took out everything that I knew wasn't safe to eat and closed the freezer and went on holiday. At most it had been thawed for about a day. Thanks for all your help.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk
Freezer disaster - 9 years ago
The freezer door got left ajar and I noticed it as I was leaving on holiday. I threw out everything that had defrosted except some containers of apple sauce. I would like to know if they would be safe to eat, they had completely defrosted and are now refrozen. I use them with cereal so they won't be reheated. I don't want to take any risks but can't do anymore until apple season.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk
pavlova problems - 9 years ago
I've made two pavlova in the last couple of days and both have weeped. I used the perfect pavlova recipe on the site and think the problem is the pavlovas are under cooked so will increase the temperature slightly but I want to know whether the weeping ones will keep until tomorrow and will they be okay to transport and eat. Thanks for your helpby Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: FRIZZY HAIR - 9 years ago
I also tried the Ecostore shampoo and conditioner after DK recommended it and I find it fantastic. I have shoulder length naturally curly hair and had spent a small fortune trying to control frizz. This is the first product that really works for me and with the weather conditions we are experiencing it has really been put to the test. On a wet day I'm also using a humidity defying leave-in creby Kayc - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Pavlova keeping qualities - 9 years ago
How far in advance of Christmas Day can I make a pavlova? Looking at the current weather forecast it doesn't look like there will be many humid free days so wonder if I could make one in the next couple of days.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Query regarding panasonic breadmaker - 9 years ago
I did call Panasonic and they told me it was quite normal, it was the bearing bedding in which is why I put the post on Foodlovers as it didn't ring true to me. The machine is now quite noisy.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk
Query regarding panasonic breadmaker - 9 years ago
Does the Panasonic breadmaker get noisier over time when kneading bread? I purchased mine in June and the last couple of times I used it I noticed that it was much noisier when kneading and the paddle was inserted correctly. The loaf turned out perfectly both times.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: A most delicious Turkish cake - 9 years ago
I also felt the cake had just the right amount of syrup, we had it for dessert with berries and also plan to eat it as a cake so didn't want it to be too soggy. I had some semolina lurking in the pantry and thought this recipe would be ideal for using it up! It is such an easy cake to make and almost too easy to eat :-)by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Lemon Mousse recipe please - 9 years ago
I made the Allyson Gofton recipe, it was light and refreshing but I found the left over portion left a watery puddle the next day so this would be a recipe best eaten on the day it was made.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk

Parmco Freestanding oven - 9 years ago
Does anyone have experience with a Parmco freestanding oven with gas hob and electric oven. I would like to know how good they are as I'm looking at getting an oven with a gas hob and the gas fitter who came to see if my home was suitable mentioned this as a possible brand to purchase.by Kayc - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Ceramic cooktops pros and cons - 9 years ago
Thanks for the responses. Jenna I was interested in your comments on Westinghouse ovens as the oven I have a present is a Westinghouse Saturn and I've had problems with all the elements needing replacing as well as the warming draw switch breaking so often that I no longer use it. It was the bracket that holds the switch which keeps breaking and the latest thing to go is one of the plug in poweby Kayc - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Ceramic cooktops pros and cons - 9 years ago
Thanks for your response Tpandav, I've been told not to touch F & P so it is good to know Smeg aren't that great either. I'm wondering about Ariston and also Belling brands but finding it hard to find any reviews of any ovens at all. I really want to get it right this time and get something that is reliable and cooks well for an average family who like to bake.by Kayc - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Ceramic cooktops pros and cons - 9 years ago
I'm looking at purchasing a new freestanding stove and want to make a good choice this time around as my last oven is only 6 years old but I've never been happy with it. I'd like to have a gas cooktop but it may not be possible, waiting for a gas fitter to come and give advice. I don't want to have to go for radiant elements as they kept breaking in my present oven and I've been told that all bby Kayc - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Can you tell me what the problem is with the loaves when baked in humid weather? I was hoping to be able to use it all year round and that is the machine that I was looking a purchasing.
