Re: Favourite sides ideas/recipes? - 3 months ago
These two go well with salads & they are always a hit. 1 450g can drained Sweetcorn, 450g tin well drained crushed pineapple & mix in well 150g sour cream (adjust to your taste). Put into dish & if you want sprinkle with a little coconut. 1 long telegraph cucumber peel alternately then slice down the middle scoop out the seeds then lay flat & do 2 nicks into on an angle then 3rdby Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk

French Roast Chicken - 4 months ago
On November 28 2017, under ‘new Christmas recipes’ that Heather F put in a recipe ‘French Roast Chicken ‘ I am struggling to find it, did anyone by any chance keep it please. It was a great topic from Helen I think asking if anyone had any different recipes to share, perhaps we could start another going.by Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk

Nuts on a Christmas cake - 5 months ago
I am about to make my Christmas cake & want to put a variety of nuts on top. At what point do I add the nuts because I have put them on at the beginning & got too brown so can they be put on near the end & if so how do you make them stay stuck. Thanksby Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: carrot soupi - 10 months ago
I have made Carrot Soup many times & I vary the flavours. I sauté my onion & some garlic then add some spices eg sometimes I add cumin, chilli Pwdr or yellow curry paste, Garam masala. Not all at once but vary them each time & see what you like best. A bit like a pumpkin soup just play with flavours you will be amazed at how flavourful it can become. Have fun,by Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Nothing updated - 10 months ago
Thanks everyone, I hadn’t noticed the date just lack of response from everyone, myself included. Like Marnie I don’t always have something to post but like to read others. Did make Helens scones this morning though in my air fryer oven, successfully too I might add. I have the oven type not the basket so handy & saving power not putting the big oven on.by Lyn V - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Nothing updated - 10 months ago
I ‘m not sure if it’s my iPad but I haven’t read anything on here since the 5th of May. Is everyone resting up or have I missed something as no new posts since then. I haven’t been as regular as I used to be as we go away a lot so just wondering.by Lyn V - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Date Scones - 11 months ago
Yes, I have soaked my dates but did chop into half . They make the scone nice & moist. I don't make mine too large . A squeeze of lemon is nice into the dates too & sometimes I simmer them until quite squishy & roll my dough out spread the cooled dates down & roll up to make a pinwheel. Cook the dates the day before if you want for this too.by Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: chokos - 11 months ago
We quite like chokes but better when very young not gone woody. We boil, steam add them to stir fry’s & into a stew. Quite bland so do need a sauce of some sort or added into food.by Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Cherry Juice - 11 months ago
I used to take cherry juice every day to help me sleep & it worked really well but I had to stop taking it because of a health issue. In other words fruit goes through me not because of this but something else altogether. It is also good for arthritis. A certain amount each morning was recommended to me the ratio was on my bottle. Hope this is helpful.by Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Pantry moths and flour - 1 year ago
I have just found some in my pantry & my bag of flour hadn’t been opened & yet it was glued down by the manufacturer, Edmonds so guess it was already in the flour. Can I use it?by Lyn V - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Air Fryer - 1 year ago
I have used mine each night to try various things. Floor, egged & pank crumbed Corgettes cut in half lengthwise & halved again, along with chokoes, worked well & tasty. Chips of course, toast, halved baby tomatoes with rosemary flavoured oil & a seasoning salt, they were really nice. Going to try marinated pork fillet tomorrow night, will let you know how that goes. Interesting things to put the pearls on, never thought of bunching them up, would certainly give the taste buds a pop. I wonder how much they sell for?by Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Air Fryer - 1 year ago

Re: Finger Limes - 1 year ago
Stephanie, mine are a deep green but do turn to a yellowish colour if left but the skin is softer & so couldn’t be grated. If you look on line you will see a curd can be made by grating the skin finely, the yellow isn’t so easy but the pearls are slightly sweeter. They freeze well but I think you can only use the pearls then. I have never seen them in shops here they are an Australian fruitby Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Finger Limes - 1 year ago
Well I have been experimenting with my finger limes & they are great in the sauce of a curry, cake toppings, freeze the caviar pearls into cubes & pop into a drink to make it nice & refreshing especially a gin. On top of my fish & even into any sauce you might make with it. Very happy with all outcomes & whilst they are finished for the season I l feel prepared for the next onby Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Finger Limes - 1 year ago
We have been away for 2 1/2 months & my finger lime tree had a 2nd fruiting (we had one in June but very few) anyway they are all on the ground but the insides are still really good can anyone suggest what I could do with them. Some recipes I see are to grate the skins but that’s not possible. There are a lot & my DIL froze a lot. Thanksby Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Egg supply - 1 year ago
Interestingly enough we are travelling, well started in Red Beach now in Waihola. Been way South many farms passed but not one place has eggs for sale. We often have bought them from farm shops but not this journey just none available. Incidentally it’s 33o today in Waiholaby Lyn V - Foodlovers Food Talk
