Which Onion? - 3 years ago
If you use onion in a toasted sandwich do you use Red or Brown onion?I am sure that the last time I made toasted sandwiches I used red onion sliced and they didn't seem to soften and weren't as nice as using brown onion. Can this be the case that red onion doesn't suit being cooked this way.I want to make the rolled up versions for this weekend and am sure they would fare better with ordinary browby marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Supermarket cooked chickens - 3 years ago
Thanks Jenna and tpandav I can now understand what it is.I am going to brine a large chicken that I have in my freezer that I had bought on special a little while ago.I bought 2 or 3 and when I cooked one of them it had an unusual, dry, almost turkey flavour.I prefer chicken to turkey.I love the ready to roast chickens that come in the cook-in-the-bag types. They are expensive but full of flavour.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Kumara - 3 years ago
I have been quite disappointed lately with the kumara that I have cooked. They look fine on the outside but when cooked they are black inside. Is there any way to tell from the outside skin if they won't be right inside? I have perhaps bought them on special so does the supermarket know that there is a problem with them do you think? Kumara is my favorite vegetable so this is quite off putting forby marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Electric Jug/Kettle - 3 years ago
Lorna my old white plastic jug had to be thrown out because it was leaking water .It was a cordless model but the water pooled around the base, which was dangerous.A friend offered to buy me a new one as a birthday present a couple of months ago.I chose a good looking Stainless Steel model from Briscoes in a red colour. It works well and it looks good, but after having a light plastic model I am diby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
