Re: My Pet Hate - 6 years ago
Griz I am sorry that I have offended you as it was never my intention too.I could understand what you were saying and going through until I heard the name for it.I then became the irritable person.by marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: My Pet Hate - 6 years ago
Misophonia. It isn't an illness and shouldn't have a name or is it a name for an irritable person by nature? I don't mean to offend here.by marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Crushed Garlic. - 6 years ago
I only ever use fresh garlic for everything, but the other day I wanted to make some garlic bread and couldn't be bothered hand crushing it.I thought how much easier it would be to have a jar of it already done.Does anyone buy it this way and could maybe recommend a brand?by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: If you won the lottery...what would you spend it on? - 6 years ago
I never expect to win Lotto.I do buy tickets but not every draw.I do often wonder when people do win how they share it with their families as I thought you could only gift $27000 per year.If that is the case you wouldn't be able to divide the winning amount equally.by marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Electric Fry Pans. - 6 years ago
Thanks for your reply Lorna,I do think this may be the way to go. I agree with you saying that I could get more use out of a mini oven.I looked into buying one of these a while ago and it probably was because of my power account, but I didn't follow through and buy one because at the time I worried about having enough bench space.I spent a lot of time yesterday reading reviews of Electric Fry Pansby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Electric Fry Pans. - 6 years ago
I am thinking about buying an Electric fry pan because my power account was too high last month.I tend to roast meat quite often and my oven is old.I know they are perhaps appliances from the past but I think I would get good use out of one.The elements on my cook top are not very big so I would use the fry pan for frying, and pikelets etc.Can anyone recommend a good versatile one that can take thby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Oaty chocolate. chip cookies - 6 years ago
I agree that these coconut storing tips are very helpful.I have passed them on to one of my daughters who disliked a slice she baked because the coconut on top tasted unusual. The little tips you get from this forum can be priceless.I am off to buy coconut today and it will be stored properly this time.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Oaty chocolate. chip cookies - 6 years ago
Thanks Dawn. I am now erring on the side of discard and buy fresh. The recipe has thumbs up from Beverley as I thought it would so it should deserve fresher ingredients.Once I have them,I am set up for another batch etc. Thanks again must clear out my pantry.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Oaty chocolate. chip cookies - 6 years ago
I like this recipe also but have not baked with coconut or rolled oats for a long time obviously.I want to bake these this weekend and have just checked my pantry and the date stamp on the rolled oats is 26/01/17.The date stamp on my coconut is 09/12 16.Should I discard them and buy fresh or could I use them. They are unopened but I would happily buy fresh if it would affect the taste of these bisby marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Left Over Roast Pork. - 6 years ago
If you have had pork roasted as a meal one night how do you use the left over meat for the next meal? I thought that once it is roasted it may be too dry to use any other way other than being reheated in a gravy. This is all I have ever done.Any ideas please.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk
Pot Plant Pests. - 6 years ago
I have lots of pot plants in my home and enjoy growing them.I start small ones from cuttings etc and give lots away I get a lot of pleasure from watching them grow to beautiful big plants.Unfortunately I bought a bag of potting mix a while ago that must have contained soil gnat larvae and now I have these little flying insects in nearly every pot.I googled to find out what they were but can't finby marylew - Garden Lovers Forum
